
This group was founded by Istvan Fabian who was "fed up with seeing the games he made littered with digital graffiti" so decided to find a way to save magnetic media in 2001. "Softpres," as members call it, is composed of a group of game enthusiasts. Bartsch explained his involvement in part by saying "when you find that some museums actually put digital media on a shelf and call it preserved, someone needs to take the lead."
The group uses Interchangeable Preservation format files to store data in a CTA scripting language. The disk analyzer console that the group uses can import data using the KryoFlux Image which they developed.
