Atari 2600 was released in 1977 by Atari Inc. and is the first major microprocessor-based personal video game system released. It was the system on which players could use Pac-Man, Adventure and Space Invaders cartridges from the comfort of their home. In addition to the 2600 Online site, players interested in experiencing versions of the original Atari games can play through the Atari Flashback 2 console which was released in 2005 or through other emulators such as Stella and MESS.
